In Australia they are ‘common rough’ pineapples, Britain, 'Victoria pineapples' or in South Africa, ‘Zululand pineapples’. They are unique pineapples and have slowly made a name for themselves in the world market since the 1980s.
Description/Taste
Baby Queen Victorian pineapples, also known as Baby South African pineapples, are smaller than the common pineapple, standing only four to 5 inches tall. The fronds extending from the crown are only 2 inches longer and are sharp and covered in spikes. These mini pineapples have a fragrant golden orange skin and juicy, bright yellow flesh. They are sweeter and more aromatic than their larger counterparts.

Applications

These mini pineapples thrive in a warm, humid climate. The Queen pineapple variety has been grown in the South African area of Hluhluwe, in Northern Zulu Land since the mid 1980's. Baby pineapples can also be found growing in Brazil, Hawaii and Thailand.
