White scallions have thin white stems and long, hollow green stalks and are entirely edible. The flavor is mild and not as intense as regular onions.

Current Facts
Scallions, also called Welsh onion or bunching onion, are botanically named Allium fistulosum. As a member of the lily family, they closely resemble their onion cousins but do not develop the same large bulbs, and are instead grown for their mildly onion-flavored green stalks .
