Description/Taste
Sugar snap peas produce large bright green pods which encase plump, round peas. The entire pod and peas can be eaten whole without shelling, unlike English peas that are more fiborous. The pods are round and reach a length of 2 to 3 inches at maturity with around 3 to 8 peas per pod. Pod walls are rather thin in comparison with snow peas.

Sugar snap peas are a group of edible podded peas that was developed in the late sixties by Calvin Lamborn, by crossing Chinese snow peas with shelling peas. Sugar snap peas are harvested year round, unlike English peas which are susceptible to frost damage which causes a delay in this pea's harvest resulting in a lower volume of English peas.
