This small, round melon usually has a rough, prominent surface. When ripe, the pale orange flesh is very juicy and sweet.
Choose one that is heavy for its size, releases a sweet fruity fragrance and has a thick raised netting with a slightly golden under color. It should yield slightly to finger pressure at its blossom end when ready to eat.
