Broccoli Spigarello is an heirloom edible green boasting a wavy or ruffled leaf and a thin fibrous stems. At peak maturity and time of harvest the green plant will produce small edible flowers, reminiscent of broccoli rabe florets. The flavor of Broccoli Spigarello is mild, slightly grassy and sweet that evokes memories of a cross between kale and broccoli rabe, but devoid of bitterness. The leaves are tender, succulent and crunchy in texture.
Broccoli Spigarello is available in the mid-fall into spring.
