Beets - Large - Cultivation
Large beets can grow in many climates including regions with periods of frost. This cool-season root requires full sun and rich soil mixed with organic matter and some sand. Large beets need high amounts of nutrients, so the soil should be fertilized multiple times throughout the growing season. They also need frequent watering to keep the well-draining soil moist. Large beets need to be thinned as each plant needs space to mature and grow. They are grown from seed and can be planted early in the spring and again in the fall. Large beets are ready for harvest approximately 60-70 days after planting.
