Inside the plump pods are approximately 5-6 oval ivory colored beans that are also dappled in the characteristic cranberry markings. Raw Cranberry shelling beans are are typically lean, grassy and starchy while cooked beans develop a sweet, rich and meaty flavor reminiscent of chestnuts with a plush creamy texture. Their vibrant color does fade when cooked.
