Current Facts
Pineapple mint is a perennial herb and a subspecies of apple mint. As with apple mint, its green leaves are slightly furred and wrinkled with white and cream blushed tips.
Description/Taste
Pineapple mint is a variety bred for its aromatic, tropical notes. The variegated leaves are green, tinged with yellow and slightly more rounded then standard mint.
Applications
Pineapple mint is most often used in fresh applications as its delicate aromas are lost when cooked. Uses as a garnish for desserts or main dishes, or infuse in syrups and oils. Pineapple mint may be substituted for mint in cocktail and frozen dessert applications. To store, keep cool and dry until ready to use.
Geography/History
Mint hybrids occur commonly each year and although species within Mentha have origins within Europe, Africa and Asia, they have been naturalized in temperate regions of North America and Australia.
