Orange cauliflower produces florets just like white cauliflower. The florets are, however, orange. Orange cauliflower tastes slightly sweeter and a little nutty than white cauliflower.
Orange cauliflower is generally available year-round.
Orange cauliflower is a result of a genetic mutation, first discovered in 1970 in a cauliflower field in Canada. Orange cauliflower has 25% more beta carotene than its white counterpart. Orange cauliflower is also known as cheddar cauliflower (although it does not taste like cheddar) and orange bouquet cauliflower. Suzie’s Farm is a 70-acre USDA-certified organic farm located thirteen miles south of downtown San Diego.
