Description/Taste
Living Red Frill is an herbaceous perennial grown primarily for fresh eating. Its oak-shaped leaves are deeply serrated with violet tips and thin wasabi green stems. It has a crunchy yet tender texture and a robust peppery flavor. Snip the Living Red Frill greens fresh from the roots as a finishing herb or added to a salad mix for an added mustardy bite.
Current Facts
Living Red Frill greens are the live young sprouts of the mustard green known as Brassica juncea. This lettuce is a member of the Brassica family and may also be called Ruby Streaks or Scarlet Frill. The mature plants can supply multiple cuttings per season, but the Living Red frill is best harvested once as a young micro green. The live greens are sold in a tray approximately 11 X 18 inches.
