The Purple mangosteen, botanical name Garcinia magostana, simply referred to as mangosteen, is an ultra-tropical slow growing evergreen tree that is cultivated for its edible fruit.

Description/Taste
Oval-shaped with black random markings on its firm skin, the light green Kuta squash offers a rather insipid non-descript flavor. This squash can grow several inches in length.
Nutritional Value
All squashes provide vitamin A and vitamin C, some of the B vitamins and are a good source of fiber. Approximately 100 calories are in one cup of cooked squash.
Applications
Steam, bake, boil, sauté, microwave or fry. Add to stir-fries, casseroles, vegetable medleys, soups and stews for texture. To store, refrigerate in a plastic bag. Use promptly for optimum quality.
Geography/History
Vigorous and prolific, Kuta may be harvested as a summer squash or be allowed to mature into a winter squash when it becomes thick-skinned and dark.
