Maui Onions

The shape and size of an apricot, the honeydew nectarine offers a wonderfully succulent texture. A successful cross between different nectarine varieties, the light green meaty flesh of this little fruit wonder has a deliciously sweet taste and a very appealing appearance. The honeydew colored skin, not its parentage, gives the fruit its sometimes misleading name.
Nutritional Value
Low-fat, saturated fat-free, sodium-free and cholesterol-free, nectarines provide a source of vitamin C and dietary fiber.
Applications
Best eaten fresh out of hand, this juicy new fruit makes a flavorful and colorful addition to fruit salad. Slice or chunk; use as edible garnish to dress up sandwiches or meat and poultry entrees. Grill skewers threaded with chunks of honeydew nectarines and pineapple. For variation, add cherry tomatoes, eggplant and zucchini. A yummy summer garnish for most anything. To store, place unripe fruit in a paper bag; keep at room temperature. Refrigerate ripe fruit between 33 and 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
