Sweet and crisp, Green Gem lettuce is actually a small size of romaine. Although it is full grown, this specialty romaine variety is about half the size of regular romaine boasting succulent rich green leaves that measure about five inches in length and about three inches in width. Having a pale green heart and offering an even crisper center and sweeter taste than common lettuce, Green Gem lettuce never develops a bitter flavor.
