Red currants are tart but can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried. Add fresh red currants to cornmeal pancake batter or cook currants with sugar and water until the mixture has thickened and use as a syrup.

Varieties \include the Snow White cherry tomatoes, an eye-catching ivory-colored fruit, orange Sungolds, and red Fox and Chadwicks. There are also black and brown cherry varieties. The black and browns don't have the most distinctive flavor but have great colors. The Chadwick is a slightly larger red cherry tomato and has a nice sweet flavor. The Fox also is sweet. Heirloom cherry tomatoes can grow to the size of a golf ball.
