
Wasabi
Wasabi is a perennial and a member of the Cruciferae family. It is grown mainly for its underground rhizome (tuber) which produces branch-less, edible leaves above ground. A mature wasabi root is firm, cylindrical, brown and green-skinned and tapered.

Exotic banana flowers are the red-orange to deep purple, pointed, compact heads at the tip end of a forming bunch of bananas. Each bud has large outer petals that protect groups of small white flowers

The peak season for bachelor's button is early summer through early fall.
Description/Taste
White, purple, pink and peacock blue flowers with ragged edges are produced on slender branched stems.
Applications
Bachelor's button flowers are used fresh, most often as an edible garnish. Add to salads or cheese and crudite platters. Use flowers as decoration on desserts such as cakes, tarts and creme brulee.
Geography/History
In full sun or even in shade, these plants thrive. The first blooms appear ten to twelve weeks after planting. Depending upon variety, the plants can grow one to three feet tall. The common habitat for these vigorous flowers is the wastelands in northern temperate regions.
