A research team from the University of California at Davis created the Concord seedless grape in 2003, which works directly with the Agriculture Research center (ARS). These seedless grapes are a cross with the Thompson seedless grape as a result Concord grapes have an edible skin and are seedless.
Description/Taste
The Concord seedless grape is a cross between a Thompson seedless and a Concord. They are about average in size with an inky dark purple color. The Concord is a sweet variety, high in sugar and acidity.
Nutritional Value
Concord grapes are high in vitamin C, sodium free, and have about 85 calories per one and one half cup.
Applications
The seedless Concord grapes have a balance of sweet and tart flavors that make it a wonderful choice for baking and jamming. These grapes are also great to cook down into sauces, purees, pickle, or serve fresh in salads. To store keep them dry and refrigerate.
