Developed in the 1950's, the Cocktail Grapefruit is actually a hybrid of Siamese Sweet pummelo and Frua mandarin. As it was never officially allowed for release, the hybrid escaped from the University of California Riverside.

Description/Taste
Cocktail grapefruit are medium to large sized citrus, sweeter and less acidic than regular grapefruit. This hybrid has a dark, yellow,thin rind with a deep, yellow flesh to match. Many would say they are seedy for commercial usage, but great for juicing.
