The Gold beet is made up of both an edible root and edible leaves. The root is pale orange, swollen and globular, reaching sizes of up to four inches in diameter. The root's variegated golden-orange flesh is firm, earthy and sweet.

Depending on the seeds, this lovely hybrid melon grows full-size, typically weighing five pounds or in a smaller personal size weighing in at just 1- 1 1/2 pounds. Because this melon has a rather short shelf life and doesn't fare well when commercially shipped, local growers and farmer's markets are its availability forte.
Ananas melons produce a light netting that encases its golden to orange colored rind. Its sweet yellowish-ivory colored flesh is quite firm and fragrant. Its compelling scent is much like that of a ready to eat pineapple, thus its name, Ananas which means "pineapple".
Luscious melon for breakfast and brunch, anytime is a good time to enjoy this melon sweetie. Use as garnish for specialty sandwiches. To store, keep whole melons cool and dry. Refrigerate cut melon up to three days.
In France, the Ananas melon is called "Ananas D'Amerique a Chair Verte".
