Concerning the recent FDA alert on Tomatoes
Specialty Produce is dedicated to offering a quality product to our customers and will take all necessary Food Safety steps to accomplish this task.
- Specialty Produce faxed an advisory letter to all of our customers on June 9th. A copy can be found here.
- Another advisory letter with regards to FDA approval of Baja Mexico (Norte) raw grape, roma and round tomatoes was faxed to all of our customers on June 16th. A copy can be found here.
- Specialty Produce is using FDA and USDA approved tomato suppliers.
- We are currently buying tomatoes on the vine and loose roma tomatoes that were on the vine.
- Specialty Produce distributes roma tomatoes, round tomatoes, and all other sorts of tomatoes from FDA approved locations in the Mexican states of Baja Norte and Baja Sur. New info.
- In light of the tomato epidemic, Specialty produce began and will continue to test our tomatoes for salmonella. There will be weekly tests and the results will be posted on our website.

Specialty Produce is HACCP Certified and has received an A rating from the County of San Diego, as well as being frequently audited by interested 3rd partries.
